The Wesner family has a long heritage of legal
practice and service in Oklahoma. My great-grandfather, A. LeRoy
Jones, was practicing in the earliest days of Cordell. My
grandfather, Jess C. Wesner, was a 1927 graduate of OU Law School.
My father, Ron Wesner was a graduate of OU Law School in 1953. Both
practiced in Washita County until retirement.
My career is a
rural general practice which has spanned the oil boom and bust in
Oklahoma. I have served as City Attorney for Cordell as well as for
5 other municipalities. I also serve as attorney for Midwestern
Oklahoma Development Authority and Kiwash Electrical
Cooperative.
My courtroom
experience has been in Oklahoma District Courts, predominantly Washita
county, in both criminal and civil cases, including mental health,
juvenile, family law and probate cases.
I have an
abiding faith in the need for, and virtues of, small rural communities and
a belief that the sense of belonging and community that is reflected in
rural Oklahoma communities must be preserved for the State to
flourish.
